New Denver Art Museum Wing

The Frederick Hamilton Building is engaged in previews of the space right now. Today was a member's only day. WESTAF invited a bunch of original State Arts Agency original ED's to Denver for a meeting/brainstorm over today and tomorrow. Anthony (WESTAF's ED) managed to get the group tickets to the new building.

The building was designed by Daniel Libeskind. It is gorgeous to look at on the outside, completely clad in titanium.

The interior is stunning as well. The angles are just wonderful with an suprisingly open space. The walls have a installed piece of permanent art that displays digital numbers in the midst of circular mirrors.

They will have a challenge hanging temporary exhibits. The lack of 90 degree angles will pose difficulties that traditional spaces will never have. The lighting was a little weak, but that could have been due to the fact the facility isn't officially open or due to the fact they desire that the art speaks for itself.

More of the collection will be on display, which is very good. I hope that the building will draw many more patrons to the facilities.
