Daylight Savings Time Rant

Today I updated our ReplayTVs for the new daylight savings times.  It comprises a rather convoluted process of erasing the ZIP code on the unit and then putting the ZIP back.  This got me thinking about the insanity of Daylight Savings.

Fieldwork Job Description

The Western Folklife Center seeks a Spanish-speaking fieldworker for an NEA funded project focusing on cultural traditions related to Mexican and Mexican-American ranch and vaquero (cowboy and horseman) culture in the U.S. Fieldwork will identify artists and artforms with historic or contemporary connections to this ethnic occupational community. Artforms might include handcrafted horse gear (saddles, bits, spurs, reins, ropes, belts), traditional music and songs (especially corridos), cooking, visual art, poetry, dichos, and other occupational ranch skills and folklife.

The Search for a GREAT FTP Client

Non-profits that want to manage their own Internet based systems will ultimately find themselves needing to use File Transfer Protocol (FTP).  Basically FTP allows you to move files from one computer--your local computer, to a second computer--often a server.  It was originally developed for UNIX and is a main-stay for those developing Web sites.

Drupal Adsense Injector

I'm always looking for ways to effectively onetime my site.  Adsense hasn't been too terribly successful for me and I suspect--with advice from my brother--that a big part has been placement.  I have been placing Adsense ads in the right column, a little too low and in the footer.

Lessons from the Church--Arts Engagement

Last night my daughter was baptized at the Wesley Foundation in Boulder.  The Foundation is a United Methodist chapel that serves the student population mostly.  What is the connection?  My wife was the office manager there over a decade ago, she was baptized there by Eric Smith.  Eric, in turn, married Paula and I in the Wesley Foundation in 1997.
