Articles, Forums, and the Blogosphere in a Frenzy over Boot Camp

I've been reading many articles, comments, and blogs regarding Apple's announcement.

Many groups hold that Boot Camp is a gateway to get Windows users to try OSX. I think that you might get quite a few users who stick a toe in the OSX waters to see what the fuss is about. I think that it is quite possible that one might find a significant number of users who are willing to use OSX 40-50% of the time because of the tools that come bundled like the iLife suite which includes iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, GarageBand, and more.

Some argue that if 2% of the PC camp were to switch to Apple and ultimately use MacOS X and 2% of the existing base of Mac users were so overwhelmed by how fabulous Windows was and were to switch over, the net gain for Apple would be huge. This rings true to me.

There are far more games available for Windows than for OSX. I read in several places, the tongue in cheek notion that Windows would become the "Gaming Module" for OSX. It is a pretty funny notion.

This all also raises the question as to whether Apple has a plan for virtualization of other OS platforms withing X.5. Will there be a function, like in the older PowerPC Macs, that will allow other operating systems to function much like Classic emulated OS 9?

I think that Steve Jobs must be sitting with an enigmatic smile on his face, wearing a dark turtle neck, and chuckling at all the fuss. Thanks Steve, I'm enjoying watching the chaos!
